Swedish success story with Scandinavian design

If it says KABE on a caravan or motorhome, you can be sure of one thing – it is developed, designed, and built in Tenhult, Småland, Sweden.

KABE is a Swedish success story in every sense. Having all production located in its own facilities in Tenhult offers significant advantages, and the KABE group has made substantial investments in the factory to meet increasing demand. Today, there are separate production lines for caravans, motorhomes, and vans, as well as a carpentry workshop for interior manufacturing. In recent years, KABE has invested in new CNC machines for shape sawing and hole drilling in panels, as well as extending the production line.

Green Investments

The investments are also a step towards transitioning to a more sustainable industry.

"The production processes go hand in hand with our goal to manufacture products that meet our customers' needs. It is important for us to be able to tell all KABE owners what we are doing to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, water use, transportation, and waste, among other things, in connection with our manufacturing," explains Mikael Blomqvist, CEO of KABE.

An example is the roof of the carpentry factory, which has been equipped with solar panels capable of producing approximately 500,000 kilowatt-hours. This corresponds to 15–20 percent of KABE's annual consumption and is an important step in the company's effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Form and Function in Harmony

Design development for recreational vehicles has been tremendous in recent years. Stefan Bohman is part of a development team working on new design solutions, and he is responsible for the interior furnishings. Completing a new model lineup is a long and complex process.

"We often work right up until the last minute; sometimes the final adjustments are made just hours before the vehicles are brought into the booth at Elmia," he says.

For KABE, it is important that the design is developed in harmony with functionality. The eye may be attracted to a sleek surface, but on the campsite, functionality is crucial.

"A recreational vehicle is challenging because space is limited and weight must be kept down. Based on these conditions, we seek smart solutions that utilize every centimeter optimally. For example, corner cabinets in the kitchen with carousel shelves, narrow wardrobes with hook-mounted pull-outs, and flexible TV mounts."

Always Cozy

KABE is a Premium product, and Stefan's team is constantly seeking solutions that distinguish the brand. KABE is well known for its Swedish origin with in-house manufacturing at the factory in Tenhult. Innovative solutions, quality materials, and fine details are some of the guiding principles.

– KABE's vehicles are always cozy and inviting to spend time in. We work extensively with wall and ceiling carpets that create a pleasant atmosphere. For the 2026 model year, we have, among other things, developed new overhead cabinets, a popular face-to-face sofa, and several models have been equipped with a TV mount for a 32-inch TV, concludes Stefan Bohman.
